Hi umsly
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, I see a strong and well-rounded profile. You have got a great mix of technical, analytical, and leadership experience, which top MBA programs really value. Your work as an analyst/consultant handling financial data, risk, and regulatory processes shows solid quantitative strength and business relevance, and bringing in a £150K client plus managing day-to-day stakeholder operations adds real commercial impact. The promotion and award show recognition of your performance, which is great for your story.

Outside of work, your leadership in the dramatics club and university newspaper adds serious depth, managing budgets, leading teams, and driving transitions all show initiative and strong communication skills. That blend of creativity and analytics is something that stands out, especially for consulting or strategy-oriented MBA paths.

Your GMAT score is also strong. Focus hard on essays, make them impact-driven, and personal. Highlight how you’ve combined technical expertise with leadership, creativity, and business understanding. Overall, a strong and well-balanced profile, just time your application strategically and get that GMAT bump to make yourself stand out even more.

I’d be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help!
No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.

Hello!

Here is our review for your profile:

GMAT:
A 655 on GMAT Focus is solid and already within range for many top schools, though for R3 applications, a bump to 685+ would definitely improve your chances. That said, even with 655, your profile strengths are strong enough to make a compelling case — your application narrative, leadership, and measurable impact can compensate for a slightly lower score.

Academics:
Tier-1 engineering degree with 7.3 CGPA, plus strong ICSE/XII scores, shows a consistent academic foundation. While not perfect, it is well-supported by your professional achievements and leadership exposure.

Work Experience:
~3.5 years as an analyst/consultant handling cross-border financial and risk-related projects is highly relevant and impactful.
Make sure your essays clearly translate your technical/analytical work into business and leadership outcomes, not just technical accomplishments.

Leadership & Extracurriculars:
Very strong. Roles like Head of Creative Team, Managing Editor, and Student Council member showcase leadership, project management, team-building, and innovation.

Overall Assessment:
You are a very strong candidate, with a balanced mix of professional impact, leadership, and extracurricular achievements. GMAT should not be a deal-breaker, but ofcourse the higher the better.

Our Recommendation:
R3 is more competitive, but your profile is compelling. If you apply now with 655, focus on crafting essays that strongly highlight impact, leadership, and career progression.
Retaking the GMAT to achieve 685+ would further reduce risk and make you more competitive for the very top programs.
Either approach is valid — the key is executing a cohesive application narrative that clearly connects your analytical, leadership, and cross-cultural experiences.

Female, 10th (ICSE) 92%, 12th (82%), B. Tech (7.3 CGPA) (tier 1 engineering college)

GMAT FE 655

Work ex: 3.5 years. Currently working as an analyst/consultant at a non big 4 org. I work with clients in the USA and the UK. I deal with financial data and most of my work is migration of legacy codes into newly licensed softwares and eliminating manual inputs by creating fully automated workflows. A large chunk of the outputs of my work deal with the risk appetite and regulatory side of the business.

I’ve received an award and a promotion in my time with my current org and have brought in a client whose engagement resulted in a 150K GBP remuneration (annually). I am also one of the only two people from my org handling the day to day operations with the stakeholders.

I was the head of the creative team of the dramatics club as well as the managing editor for the university’s newspaper and magazine. We won a number of prizes for our annual productions in the dramatics club. For the newspaper, I managed a budget of 3LPA, acted as a liaison on behalf of the dean of students’ welfare, oversaw the editorial team and helped us transition from print media to virtual and even auditory one.

Was also a member of the student council in school.

My biggest concern at the moment is if I would be at a risk if I were to apply in R3 given how competitive it is. I’m planning on taking the gmat again and improving my score to a 685+ hopefully

Dear umsly,

We see multiple strengths in your profile right away. You have good academic performance, impactful work experience and really strong extracurriculars, all of which can translate into very compelling stories from an admissions essays perspective. Your GMAT Focus Edition score is close to the median score for admits, which is still good.

Given that the Round 2 application deadline is quite close, if you have already started working on your essays, we believe there is no harm in giving your best, crafting your stories, and going ahead with your present score. We see real potential in your profile.

If you are yet to make progress on the essays and you feel you will need more time to get them right, it may be worth considering Round 3 as it will give you more space to refine your application and your chances of shortlist doesnt really reduce drastically as compared to Round 2 from what we have seen historically and what the institution also confirms.

We recommend focusing your energy on a GMAT retake only when you feel that your mock scores have been consistently much higher than your current score. Otherwise, it is wiser to put your energy into refining the application and shaping the essays in the best possible way. GMAT is only one aspect of the admissions process and in all other aspects, your profile shows genuine strengths. What matters now is how well everything comes together in the essays.

We would love to connect to understand your profile better and offer more personalized guidance.
