Hi Priyanka1296,

Could you share your total years of work experience? Also, are you planning to apply only to ISB, or are you considering other one-year MBA programs such as IIMA PGPX, IIMB EPGP, and similar programs?

Have you started thinking about your post-MBA career goals? Given your background, Corporate Strategy, Business Development, or Leadership roles within the real estate and infrastructure sector could be natural options, although there may be other paths worth exploring depending on your interests.

Your profile does offer some differentiation, particularly through the combination of being a female candidate and having real estate sector experience. From a test score perspective, I would recommend targeting a GMAT FE score of around 675 for ISB and approximately 645 for the top one-year programs at IIM A, B, and C.

All the Best!

Happy to connect if you’d like to discuss your profile in more detail.

Hello,

This is my profile and work experience for overall view -

• 10th - 9.2 CGPA
• 12th - A grade
• Graduated from Tier 1 college regionally - B. Arch - second class
• Internship in China and in India

Work experience :
• Jr architect : Worked on commercial, residential and BOQs
• Designer : At Interiors company PAN India presence
• Same company couple of years later promoted to Manager handling a complete unit of interior designers checking on TAT, escalations, revenue prediction, MOM targets, NPS.

( Ach : Always topped the charts with targets and NPS. Known as the best manager with handling teams)

• Operations Manager : Construction company. Handled a team for the city and was responsible for delivering projects and pushing to the next team to project managers, handled revenue generation, cancellations, refunds, CSAT, customer escalations, vendor management, contractors and contracts.

( Ach : Reduction in errors due to process, my team was always on top with incentives due to performance, city on top due to targets being met)

• Sales and Operations Manager at Luxury HNI interiors clientele : Catering to very high networth clients, visiting sites. This was more on individual contribution front due to the clients. Responsible for conversions and collaborating with all the teams to ensure the end product is delivered to customers.

Priyanka, your trajectory from junior architect to operations manager running a city-level construction team is a stronger story than most architecture-to-MBA applicants bring, and ISB will read it that way if you frame it right.

- The lever you're underusing is the P&L language already buried in your bullets. Revenue prediction, TAT, NPS, escalations, MOM targets, that's operator vocabulary, not designer vocabulary. ISB's adcom reads architecture profiles cautiously because most stay in design; you've already crossed into general management, so lead with that, not the B.Arch.

- Second class in B.Arch from a Tier 1 regional college is a soft spot that the GMAT is the cleanest fix for. Aim for Focus 685 plus, which sits around Classic 740 by percentile. Anything in that band neutralises the academic question and lets the essays do real work instead of defending your transcript.

- Female plus real estate plus ops is a genuinely uncommon intersection at ISB. The trap is pitching yourself as a real estate person who wants to stay in real estate, which makes you replaceable by the next infra candidate. Pitch the pivot, say to PE real estate, REIT strategy, or proptech, and the differentiation compounds instead of capping you.

- On the one-year cohort question GradOcean raised, do not treat ISB, IIMA PGPX, and IIMB EPGP as interchangeable. PGPX and EPGP skew older and more senior, and their minimum experience requirements as of program start are higher than ISB's. If your total experience is in the four to six year band, ISB PGP is the natural fit and the others may not even shortlist you. Verify the current experience cutoffs on each school's site before you spread the net.

Fix the score, reframe the manager years as general management, and ISB becomes a realistic conversation rather than a stretch.
