A 9-plus CGPA is a genuine differentiator at ISB, where a strong academic record can offset a score that sits just below the median, but the relationship only works in one direction: academics do not rescue a profile if the rest is thin.

• The ISB median has historically hovered around 710 to 720 on the Classic GMAT scale (roughly 655 to 665 on the Focus Edition); anything at or above that range takes score off the table as a concern, while anything below 690 Classic starts attracting scrutiny regardless of GPA.
• Work experience is the variable your question did not raise, and it matters more than the score: ISB is particularly attentive to the quality and progression of your pre-MBA years, not just the count, so a clear upward arc in responsibility is non-negotiable.
• Your essays and recommendations will be read against a very specific question: why ISB, why now, and what does this person do next? Vague ambition answers hurt even strong-score candidates.
• Leadership demonstrated outside the job, whether through community work, entrepreneurial initiatives, or institutional contributions, is what separates similar profiles in the same score band.

Think of the GMAT as the entry ticket and everything else as the actual application; get the score to median, then spend equal time shaping your professional narrative.

I have decent school/college scores (9+ CGPA) - given the same what should be my target GMAT score?
