Hey everyone,
I’d love to get some feedback on my profile as an MBA applicant.

I’m currently a Manager at Accenture Strategy & Consulting, having recently moved from Deloitte, where I spent about 7 years in Human Capital Management Consulting. I’m 31 years old

I completed my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Economics from the University of Warwick with High Merit.

Outside of work, I’m deeply involved in electronic music. What started as a hobby has grown into something much bigger—I DJ, produce my own music, have played at large-scale music festivals, and co-founded an events IP. In 2023, we organised over 30 events, built a strong community around our subgenre, and generated meaningful revenue. I also completed a Diploma in Electronic Music Production from Point Blank Music School, London.

I recently retook the GMAT Focus Edition and scored 685 (5th attempt)

What do you think my chances are at ISB and IIM Ahmedabad with this profile? Is a 685 GMAT Focus considered a strong score for these programs, or would it still be worth attempting the GMAT again?

Hi, I am working in HCM in Deloitte only, just asking as fellow mba aspirant and Deloitte employee, you are already having a secured job and financially earning well, why you need to leave you job and go for an MBA when your already in strategy consulting which usually all the mba graduates do.
You can go for PGP Max and PGP Pro that would be better than PGP for you ig.

685 is a strong score for both ISB and IIMA PGPX. Rather than focusing on a retake, I would recommend concentrating on building a strong application and starting your interview preparation.

That is an interesting set of profile parameters. After evaluation, this is what we think:

Co-founding an events business that ran 30+ events in a single year and generated real revenue is the most consequential fact in your post, and it's also the part most likely to be buried behind your consulting titles when you write the essays.

- Seven years in Human Capital consulting, a move to Accenture Strategy, and a Warwick Economics master's with High Merit is a credible academic and career package for ISB; the risk is that it reads as solid but common in a pool full of experienced consultants, which is exactly where the events business becomes load-bearing rather than decorative. If the essays treat it as a hobby that turned interesting, that's a missed opportunity; if they show the commercial decisions you made, the capital you managed, and how you led a team toward a defined growth outcome, it shifts the file meaningfully.

- On the score: a 685 on the current GMAT Focus is roughly a 730 to 740 equivalent on the Classic scale, putting you around the 95th to 96th percentile. After five attempts, a sixth is only worth considering if you can identify a specific, correctable reason the score stalled; otherwise, that time is better spent on essays and positioning, because the score is no longer the constraint.

The Warwick credentials and consulting track give this application a solid floor; whether it gets to the top of the ISB pile depends on how concretely the essays make the event's venture land.

Thanks for posting. Here is our assessment:

Co-founding a live events business that ran 30 events in a single year, generated real revenue, and built a community around it is genuinely rare in this pool, and it's exactly the kind of thing that disappears into a line on a résumé if the essays don't make the operating and financial reality concrete.

- A 685 on the GMAT Focus sits at approximately the 95th percentile, which puts you comfortably inside ISB's working range; a sixth attempt carries real diminishing-returns risk after five sittings, and unless there's a specific subsection gap pulling the score down, the time is better spent elsewhere in the application.

- Seven years in Human Capital at Deloitte before moving to Accenture Strategy reads as a solid consulting tenure, but ISB and IIM-A readers will look for evidence of client ownership and commercial outcomes rather than project participation; the essays need to show you ran decisions, not just workstreams.

- Adcoms at both schools actively use the extracurricular section to balance their class composition, and an applicant who can demonstrate P&L thinking through an independently run events venture stands apart from the bulk of Indian consulting profiles; that only works, though, if the revenue figure and the operational scale are stated explicitly rather than implied.

- The Warwick Economics credentials read well internationally, but IIM-A's PGP-FABM and ISB differ in how heavily they weight pre-MBA leadership scope; the events business may actually do more admissions work for you than the consulting progression, which is the less common direction to argue but worth considering here.

The 685 isn't what decides this application. Getting the event's venture onto the page with numbers and decisions behind it is what separates this file from the rest of the consulting stack.
