Please explain the doubt-

The Correct answer is B, However one point in the magoosh Video explanation on you tube has confused me.
In (A) splitting- verb
In (B) the splitting is Gerund.
I am confused with this explanation, till now I have thought that ing form is always Gerund.

Here's the question in that link again, OG SC #126:
The use of lie detectors is based on the assumption that lying produces emotional reactions in an individual that, in turn, create unconscious physiological response.
A) that, in turn, create unconscious physiological responses.
B) that creates unconscious physiological responses in turn.
C) creating, in turn, unconscious physiological responses.
D) to create, in turn, physiological responses that are unconscious.
E) who creates unconscious physiological responses in turn.
There is just an -ing form, "creating" in (C) in this question. I must say, I am a little unclear whether this is the exact question about which you are asking.
I will say that the -ing form of a verb is tricky, because it has THREE completely different uses. For example, consider the simple verb, the form "walking".
1) the -ing form can be part of a progressive tense verb:
he is walking
she was walking
they had been walking
I will be walking
2) the -ing form can be a gerund, acting in a noun role
Walking is good for one's health. (gerund is subject)
I enjoy walking in the rain. (gerund is direct object)
He got home by walking. (gerund is the object of a preposition)
3) the -ing form can be a participle, modifying a noun or verb or entire clause
The slugger, walking tall, stepped to the plate.
In 1930, Gandhi led 78 satyagrahis to the sea, walking 240 miles in 24 days to make salt.
