4-digit palindromic numbers have the form \(xyyx\), where \(x\) is one of values 1, 2, …, 9 and \(y\) is one of values 0, 1, 2, …, 9.

The total number of 4-digit numbers between 1000 and 9999, inclusive, is 9000 ( = 9999 – 1000 + 1 ).

Hence , probability = 90/9000=1/100
