I selected C at first sight bit then I selected D, which weaken the argument better.

The author of the passage claims that a proposed imprint for first novels will result in the publication of works of little artistic merit. Option D clearly address the Quality concern stating that MANY first time novels become classics .

No, D doesn't address the concern that quality will drop. At best, D says that prior to this plan first time authors works were of high quality (I say at best because this is a very generous interpretation). This does not change the criticism that the new plan will lead to low quality.
