What are the essay prompts for the top EMBA programs? If you are interested in EMBA programs that are highly ranked and you are able to take the required GMAT exam, some of the more popular EMBA programs are Wharton, Columbia and Booth (University of Chicago). Let’s take a look at the 2015-2016 prompts for these EMBA programs that are very prestigious and require the GMAT score for admission.
WHARTON EMBA:Essay Question 1: Required; 750 word limit
• What is your career objective and how will the Wharton MBA Program for Executives contribute to your attainment of these objectives?
Essay Question 2: Required; 500 word limit
• In his book, Winners Never Cheat: Even in Difficult Times, Jon M. Huntsman, Sr. (W’59), writes: “A crisis creates the opportunity to dip deep into the reservoirs of our very being, to rise to levels of confidence, strength, and resolve that otherwise we didn’t think we possessed.” Describe a time when you were faced with a challenge and how you responded.
Essay Question 3: Required; 500 word limit
• Given your already demanding job and the desire to remain committed to important family and personal obligations, how do you plan to handle the additional demands on your time once you enroll?
Essay Question 4:
Optional; 500 word limit• Please explain any extenuating circumstances of which the Admissions Committee should be aware (e.g., unexplained gaps in your work experience, choice of recommenders, inconsistent academic performance). You may also take this opportunity to share other defining aspects of your life that the Admissions Committee would not otherwise have learned from your application or resume.
Information for reapplicants: • Answer only Essay #2, which is new this year and thus requires a response. You do not need to respond to essay questions #1 and #3. In the fields for essays #1 and #3, type “Reapplicant.”
COLUMBIA (Executive MBA – New York): Applicants must complete one short answer question and three essays.
Short Answer Question:What is your immediate post-MBA professional goal? (75 characters maximum)
Essay 1: Given your individual background and goals, why are you pursuing a Columbia MBA at this time? (Maximum 500 words)
Essay 2: How will you take advantage of being “at the very center of business”? (Maximum 250 words)
Essay 3: What will the people in your Cluster be pleasantly surprised to learn about you? (Maximum 250 words)
Optional Essay: An optional fourth essay will allow you to discuss any issues that do not fall within the purview of the required essays.
BOOTH EMBA:Essay 1. Why are you seeking an MBA from Chicago Booth and what unique knowledge and experiences do you hope to contribute to the program? (maximum 2 pages, 12 pt. Times New Roman)
Essay 2. OPTIONAL: If there is anything else you would like the Admissions Committee to know about you, please share that information here. (maximum 2 pages, 12 pt. Times New Roman)
Essay 3. REAPPLICANTS ONLY: Please give us an update on your professional, academic, and community activities since your previous application and highlight what you have done to strengthen your application. (maximum one page, single spaced, 12pt. Times New Roman)
