Let’s take a look at the essay questions you must answer in preparing applications to some of the top U.S. EMBA programs:
Chicago Booth EMBA:Essay 1. Why are you seeking an MBA from Chicago Booth and what unique knowledge and experiences do you hope to contribute to the program? (maximum 2 pages, 12 pt. Times New Roman)
Essay 2. Optional: If there is anything else you would like the Admissions Committee to know about you, please share that information here. (maximum 2 pages, 12 pt. Times New Roman)
Essay 3. Reapplicants Only: Please give us an update on your professional, academic, and community activities since your previous application and highlight what you have done to strengthen your application. (maximum one page, single spaced, 12pt. Times New Roman)
Columbia EMBAShort Answer Question:
What is your immediate post-MBA professional goal? (51 characters maximum)
Essay 1. Through your resume and recommendations, we have a clear sense of your professional path to date. What are your career goals going forward, and how will the Columbia MBA help you achieve them? (100 – 750 words)
Essay 2. Columbia Business School’s Executive MBA will challenge you by offering a rigorous academic experience, global exposure through the international seminar, and the opportunity to immediately apply what you learn to your career. How will you approach balancing the demands of the program with your professional and personal life while you are in school? (100 – 500 words)
Essay 3. CBS Matters, a key element of the School’s culture, allows the people in your Cluster to learn more about you on a personal level. What will your Clustermates be pleasantly surprised to learn about you? (100 – 500 words)
Optional Essay. An optional fourth essay will allow you to discuss any issues that do not fall within the purview of the required essays.
Cornell EMBAEssay 1: In a concise statement, tell us why you are seeking an MBA. Specifically, what are your short and long-term career goals? And how will an MBA earned through an Executive MBA program at Cornell University help you achieve your goals? (400 words max)
Essay 2: Briefly describe your leadership style. Include two examples of situations that helped you develop your style. One example should be a positive situation that helped to shape or reaffirm it. The other example should be of a situation with an unsuccessful outcome that led you to change or redefine that style. (400 words max)
Essay 3: Cornell Executive MBA students are expected to be supportive and effective members of a learning team. Describe your philosophy regarding teamwork. Specifically, how do you define success in a team? (250 words max)
Optional Essay: What else would you like us to know? Please use this statement to address potential concerns such as gaps in employment or prior academic difficulties. You can also use this statement to highlight any achievements or significant life events that are not included elsewhere in the application. (250 words max)
Duke Global EMBARequired Short Answer Question:

Essay 1. How will your skills, training and background enhance your cohort's experience? Please include both personal and professional insight that may not be apparent through your resume and other application materials. (Maximum of 250 words)

MIT EMBA Statement of Purpose:
Please provide a statement indicating your qualifications, why you are pursuing the MIT Executive MBA Program, and what you will contribute to the program. For those reapplying, please highlight developments since your last submission. (500 words or less, one page)
Essay 1. The educational mission of the MIT Sloan School of Management is to "develop principled, innovative leaders who improve the world." Please discuss how you will contribute toward advancing this mission based on examples of past work and activities. (500 words or less, one page)
Essay 2. Tell us about a time when you introduced an idea that changed the way in which your organization functioned or approached a business challenge. Comment on the factors that you considered and the barriers / obstacles that you faced. (500 words or less, one page)
Essay 3. Tell us about a time when you took a risk in your professional life. How did you make the decision and from whom did you seek advice? (500 words or less, one page)
Optional Area: Please use this section to include any information that you would like to submit with your application. Examples include awards, publications, explanations of poor grades or resume gaps, inventions, and hobbies. Please also share information that you would like the MIT Executive MBA Admissions Committee to know, but could not share elsewhere in the application.
NYU EMBAWord limits apply to the total essay question. For example, your response to Essay 2 should answer all of parts (a), (b), and (c) with a maximum total of 750 words.

Optional Scholarship Essay:
The NYU Stern Executive MBA program offers a limited number of scholarships each year to applicants receiving minimal or no financial sponsorship. There are many more qualified candidates than there are scholarships available. Scholarships are determined at the time of admission and communicated in the letter of admission if awarded. Ross EMBAEssay 1. What is your proudest professional achievement? (up to 400 words)
Essay 2. What are your career goals and how will a Ross MBA help you achieve these? (up to 400 words)

UCLA EMBA:Essay 1. Legendary UCLA basketball Coach John Wooden once said that one’s leadership is derived from one’s character. Give an example of how you have inspired others to follow your lead by your character, personal leadership style, and the example you have set. (750 words maximum)
Essay 2. Why is it important to pursue an MBA at this particular time in your career? (750 words maximum)
Re-applicants:
Please describe your career progress since you last applied and ways in which you have enhanced your candidacy. Include updates on short-term and long-term career goals, as well as your continued interest in UCLA Anderson. (750 words max)
