CBS-NY EMBA Class Profile: Do You Fit?Columbia Graduate School of Business has succeeded in establishing one of the most prestigious and sought-after EMBA programs in the world. What does the class profile tell us about your odds of fitting in and getting into the Columbia-NY EMBA program? Among the top EMBA programs, some programs target younger candidates, and some are determined to focus more exclusively on very experienced executives. MIT, for instance, is known for its preference for the highly seasoned executive, with an average student age of 41. Columbia-NY, in contrast, has an average EMBA student age of 32-years old, and nine is their average number of work experience years.
The Columbia-NY program takes in 144 students in two clusters. Women make up 35% of the student body – impressive when compared with many other top EMBA programs (although still too low)! International students make up 24% of the student body.
The portion of students representing the finance and banking sectors hovers around 37% (roughly 53 students). Nineteen percent of students hail from the healthcare and technology sectors (roughly 27 students).
Strikingly, 67% of students have partial or full company sponsorship. But, for those of you who do not have company sponsorship, don’t worry – with good credentials, you can be very competitive based on how strong your essays and recommendations are.
These statistics may leave some of you wondering whether you are too young or too old for the Columbia program. We at
MBA Admit.com have helped candidates as young as 25 to get into the program and as old as late-forties also. A big part of success in the admissions process is how well your application represents your credentials and paints a compelling portrait of how you can contribute to Columbia and how the school can help you to succeed.
