I'm the company president and owner (one person consulting firm) ... I don't have a boss.
I've narrowed down my list of possible references to the people I believe could best articulate my situation and potential to an admissions team to the following people ... however, some of them aren't people I've worked with in a while (I don't like any of my recent clients, which incidently, is one of the reasons in considering an MBA now).
Is there anyone who stands out good or bad?

Long time corporate attorney at well known firm in Philadelphia. We worked together very intensely for about a decade, but most of our interactions over the past 7-8 years have been about personal matters.
Long time accountant for my business; owner of a niche firm in Hollywood, CA.
Former partner and friend (he's got a MM from Kellogg and 30 years in Wall Street) - super successful but really busy so not sure how much attention he'll be able to pay to doing a really good job for me.
Former partner (he didn't graduate from any school I am applying to); most of his career was as a headhunter / recruiter, so he knows how to sell people to organizations; we've not worked together in over 5 years (he's retired now). Because he is retired, he could probably do several schools if I asked.
Former co worker; while he knows me well, we've not spent much time together over the last 15 years but it's the only Booth graduate I know well. If I don't ask him to help with Booth, I will not ask him for any of them. Is it particularly helpful to have an alum as a reference? If not, I'd probably ask someone else to help me with Booth...
Current client; I've known him for close to 25 years and have been through quite a bit together; one of the best business operators I've worked with. I've not told him of my thoughts in applying to schools ... I'm not sure if he'll like that I'm applying so I can bring him some fresh ideas, or he'll think I'm distracted. Didn't attend a school in applying to.
Former co worker and former partner; a really great guy, but we've not worked together in over 15 years. Didn't attend a school I'm applying to. He (and the guy below) probably know me best personally.
Best friend from undergraduate school and good friends today. He's a very successful owner of a sales consultancy. We've never worked together (other than when I was his campaign manager for when he won the student body VP and Presidency in successive years at college).

Anyone on my list look like someone I should knock off my list?
Is it particularly helpful to have an alum write recommendations?
