RemBA
Dear Community,
I have 15 years of experience and lately grown up as a VP of a Group Function in an international corporation. My career ambition is to transition from specialist to general management, business leadership with P&L responsibility. I have an engineering background so would need to develop my understanding of core business fundamentals. I would like to develop my leadership and benefit from experience sharing with my cohort. I am based in France and do not necessarily want to move abroad although it is important the degree is know and recognized internationally.
I have applied and been accepted in both IMD and HEC program and should now make a decision. My takeaways from my research and discussion with Alumni:
- My profile fits perfectly IMD = years of experience, seniority level and being in a Corporation
- Although both core business fundamentals seem equivalent, i understand HEC has strong and nice focus on leadership
- IMD has more international footprint although HEC has improved in that area lately
I am really 50/50 and would really appreciate your insights or experience
Thanks a lot!
RemBAThe one thing that stood out to me in your profile description is "I am based in France and do not necessarily want to move abroad although it is important the degree is known and recognized internationally."
HEC Paris is among the oldest and most prestigious business schools in France, and it has also earned increasing global recognition in recent years. So, if your plan is to work in France, I don't particularly see why you would not attend a school that senior leaders of French companies typically choose for Exec MBA (I have seen plenty of examples in my network at a French company, so maybe I am biased

).
IMD is a great school with an immense leadership focus. In your case, you can't go wrong with either choice. However, as has often been pointed out on this forum, the brand recall of IMD in other geographies is debatable, as the school has not been at the forefront of marketing its top-tier MBA program.
Best wishes
