Can a candidate who picks up areas like General Management, Finance in Mba be chosen for a Business Development or Corporate Management(business performance management) role in a bank or F500 organizations?
OR Does the person need to take Marketing?
What is the annual remuneration including bonuses
and how are the growth prospects i.e. is it very likely annual review, somewhat likely 3 years or scarce 5-10 years to get into a director role from a GM.
I plan on making a transition from a technical role(Electronics, DW, BI team leader) to a Management(Business Development, Emerging Markets) role possibly in a bank like JPM or MS, i will also consider traditional F500 companies.
However i am unsure as to the level of difficulty/competition and opportunities that internationals will face/expect.

I do know a few people who went to work at various banks and a few who joined credit card companies in these general managment type programs. They exist, but I dont know about them sponsoring visas for internationals and don't have a clue about what international opportunities are.
When looking at jobs you need to for the most part ignore what companies say the title is, and when advertising GM programs you really want to look at what it really is. Honestly, knowing more of what people are doing after school vs what companies say and what they post positions as. GM is a rare beast, there are lots of corporate jobs but if you want to advance to having P&L responsibility in a few years like a true GM position that is relatively rare. Lots of companies call their MBA hirers GM programs and will rotate you through marketing, finance, strategy, etc.
As for career advancement, thats something best researched on an industry or even individual company basis. In a manufacturing company a lot of times GM is on par if not higher than director. Where I work for example the GMs typically run manufacturing plants and for the most part they are closer to the top of the org chart. Very few of the directors are at that level.
