Guys What do you think of a supply chain MBA? Are the job prospects primarily in operations? I was investigating the LGO program at MIT and it says it is operations focused, how is that different from a normal MbA? I can understand finance and marketing being different, but doesn't operations involve sone of both? Thanks
If you are dedicated to a career in operations and/or manufacturing, a supply chain MBA could definitely help set you apart. Another thing to consider is, what is the likelihood you will do that forever? A general MBA with a concentration in supply chain/operations could perhaps serve you just as well and also allow more flexibility down the road.
Thanks for the reply. I guess I was using the terms loosely, by supply chain MBA I was also referring to LGO, I guess that is not correct. Are there truly supply chain MBA programs?
What do you think about the LGO program, it seems to combine engineering and management well, do you think that narrows the field to just operations, or is the door still wide open? Thanks
It's still an MBA obviously, so it doesn't necessarily narrow your options in the long term, but it may definitely put you in a bit more of a box for that first position out of school. once your career is cranked up again, you can take it in any direction you choose.
