Schaums series would be a good starting point. it should be available in any public library.
Believe it or not, solving the tougher problems is the best way to learn the basics. The best way of participating is not to look at the discussion and then try to solve the problem with the knowledge and the understanding you have. If you cant solve the problem, ask , ask and ask. keep exploring and keep taking good notes. Write stuff in your own words.
i hope this helped.

Does anyone have access to or could refer me to a resource for basic probability/combination materials. I have seen the materials on this website but they seem to jump from really simplistic to very difficult. many of the problems posted are above my head at this point and i feel i dont have the basic concepts down.
I would rather not fork over money for the Delta course materials if there is something else out there. Recommendations? thanks much.
