Hi, Can someone provide a more simple solution to OG PS 200 problem
OG 12th edition question.I am typing the question anyways..
Of the 50 researchers in a workgroup,40 percent will be assigned to team A and remaining 60 percent to team B.However 70% of the researchers prefer team A and 30 % prefer team B.What is the lowest number of researchers who will not be assigned to the team they prefer
Options 1)15 2)17 3)20 4)25 5)30 Please provide me the best approach to solve this kind of problems

you have to assign to A first. No point in assigning any of B to A .. then you assign as much of those who prefer B to B and you have exactly 30% remaining.
I thought perhaps the question was copied wrong and lets suppose it should be "60 percent of remaining to team B". Even then you assign 40% to A, then 60% of remaining ie 0.6 * 30=18 but this is still more than all those who prefer B (ie 15). In this case 3 of those who prefer A will be in B and the rest (12) will not be in any team and the answer is still 15.
