Hello All,

Now that the holidays have ended and everything is back to normal at work, I am going to start studying for my second battle with the GMAT. The first time out I BOMBED the quant section and got a total score of 570. I think the problem lied mostly in my study habbits. I studied a lot but kept my studies to doing problems with out really reviewing the explinations to understand why i messed up. I didn't keep an error log either.

What I need help with is, where to start on teh Quant.

My plan is to study:

Kaplan GMAT GRE Math Review
PR 2005
Kaplan 2005
OG 10th addition.

The problem is that each of these books has a math review. So which one do i study in terms of the review. Do i study all them. Do I study peices here and there? Should i just go end to end through each review or should i study the arthematic from each book, the algebra from each book..... Argh its so confusing.

Any help on how to start digesting this info would be much appreciated.

Hi!

For my first attempt, I studied the book that came with my PR course and did most of the OG problems assigned (just a fraction of the problems in the OG book though). I scored a 42. I can't remember what I did for my second attempt, but my score went down to 39. For my third attempt, I went through the Math Review in front of OG in detail, did most of the DS and the 50% of PS (the harder ones), reviewed the explanations of all the questions I got wrong, and started using the Kaplan CD. The result of my efforts was a 48. Understanding how ETS solves problems is the key. A seemingly complicated problem may be conquered by using a shortcut (i.e. algebra rather than arithmetic). So really understand the OG, then go on to the tough problems in Kaplan.
