Hi william,
I doubt if there is any relation between the number of questions wrong and the total score you get
as it depends on the following things
1. difficulty level of the questions you got wrong
2. whether you got consecutive wrong or not
3. How many questions did you get wrong in the first 10 and the last 10 questions.
In gmat some of the questions are experimental questions -> they are not even marked
