Set S =(-6,-5,-3,-2,-1)
Set T=(-2,-1,0,1,2,3)

One number is selected from S and another from T.
What is the probability that the product of the 2 numbers is negative?

I think the probability is 1/2

since all the numbers in set S are negative, the only way the product of one number from S and one number from T will be negative is when a positive is selected from T and the probability of which is 3/6 i.e 1/2

Agreed with 1/2. There are 30 total combinations. There are 15 combinations that yield a negative number. 15/30 is 1/2.

How did you come up with 1/9?
