Hi ramkrn,

You've 'lumped together' some categories of questions without really defining WHY you're having trouble with them. The more specific you can be with your issues, the easier it will likely be to fix them and get you the resources that you need.

1) What resources have you been studying with?
2) How have you been scoring on your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
3) Are you getting all of these types of questions wrong or just certain variations?

I highly recommend that you post any question that gives you trouble into the appropriate Forum on this site. The Experts and other Users will likely be able to offer the advice/solutions that can help you to quickly improve.

Hi RichC,

1) What resources have you been studying with? I have used the Manhattan Quant books ( All 5 books) for concepts and practiced from OG 2015 and Quant Review 2nd edition.

2) How have you been scoring on your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)? In GMAT Prep 1 : 660 (Q47 V34) & GMAT Prep 2 : 680 (Q48 V35) In GMAT Club Test Quant : 42-44 , Manhattan 660 : (Q46 V34).

3) Are you getting all of these types of questions wrong or just certain variations?(Speed , distance & time problems at 600 + level getting wrong , Propability & Combinatorics not confident although I know some concepts but again error in 600+ problems)

Thanks,
Ram.

Hi ramkrn,

With your scores, you're performing at a really nice level. In this 'range' though, the GMAT becomes really sensitive to little mistakes, so you have to take a good look at EVERYTHING you're getting wrong and figure out WHY. If you're making silly mistakes (for whatever reason), then THOSE are things that you have to work on immediately. Don't worry about the implied 'level' of any given question - focus instead on whether the question is "gettable" or not - if you want to improve your score, then you have to nail all of those gettable questions.

From your scores, my guess is that your 'problems' are more organizational than anything else. It would be useful to see not only the questions that you're having trouble with but also the work that you tried to do to solve the questions in the first place. If and when you post prompts in the Forums, you should also post whatever specific 'issues' you had or aspects of the prompts that you want to know more about.

Hi All,

Have difficulty in the concept of Combinatorics & Propability.

Have both Manhattan Books and Veritas Prep books, which one is better to understand the concepts based on your experience.

Also please suggest the methods to improve on Speed , distance & time problems.

Thanks,
Ram.

Since you already have both books, why don't you check out both of them? From what I understand, Combinatorics is a section in a Manhattan book so it shouldn't take much time. Depending on whether you have the old version of Veritas books or the new one, you will have either a dedicated book for the topic or it will be combined with Statistics. In either case, it will cover the basics extensively.
