A certain union has 60 members; There are exactly 2 ways for a member to pay dues : annually and quartely
1/3 of the members pays dues annually and the rest quarterly
A single quarterly dues payment is equal to 2/9 of annual due payment
if the total received payment by the union in due is $ 1OOOO for a given year .what was the total amount in due payments from the members who paid annually

40 members pays quarterly.
Let x be the annual payment amount. By translating problem into algebric equation gives:
20 * x + 2/9 * x * 4(number of quarters in a year) * 40 = 10,000
or 500 x = 90000
x = 180
total payment by annual members = $180 * 20 = $3600
