in half hour boat A has covered 40 miles
boat B has a speed 1/4 more than boat A therefore 80*1.25 = 100
difference of speed between Boat A and Boat B = 20mph
difference in distance between boat A and B = 40 miles

T.(S2)/(s1-s2) hours to catch up to boat that started already...
0.5 * 100/ (100-80) = 2.5 hrs..
add 2.5 to 8.00 am it is at 10.30 am ..I believe..
Well, I didnt do it the simple way like you guys did by finding the difference btw, the speed and calculating it. Thnks giving me a new method, I worked out with half an hour time limit and found out ,
let t be the time since B started.
Boat B is traveling @ 100mph so it will have traveled 100t miles
Boat A is traveling at 80mph, so it will have traveled 80(t + .5) miles (remember that A started .5 hours earlier than B)
