Thanks buddy. But by chance both possibilities are giving the same results. :)

St1: Only possibility is 9999999988 : SUFF

St2: Could be anything 1111111123, 1222222223, 1233333333 and so on....: INSUFF

What about the possibility of 9999889999? The median is now 8
If you consider 9999988999, the median is 8.5
if its 8899999999, its 9

Am I missing something? Please clarify.

Median can be found ONLY after arranging the set in ascending or descending order.

What is the median of 10 one-digit numbers?

1) Mean of them is 8.8
2) Range of them is 2

A.

Not really 8*9 + 2*8 = 88 and 9*9 + 1*7 = 88.

If the range is 2 then u know the difference between highest and lowest is 2 and the answer is 9,9,9...(9 times) and 7(1 time) is the answer.

Answer is C.

there are two possibilities.
1. 8x9+2x8 = 88
2. 9x9+1x7 = 88

so in first case the median is (8+9)/2 = 8.5
in second case it will be (7+9)/2= 8

So C . Saha can you please explain why you posted a correction.

The question is what is the median
not
can you find a median ! :)

I go with A.
We are mainly concerned about 5th and 5th numbers when arranged in order.
If there are only five 9's, the total of remaning nos can never be greater than 40.
There has to be more than five 9s.
