If ab does not equal 0 and points (-a,b) and (-b,a) are in the quadrant of the xy-plane, is point (-x,y) in this same quadrant?

(1) xy > 0

(2) ax > 0

Any ideas how to approach this question?[/list]

if that is so..
i think choice a is right..

Yes the question is correct, I found the question strange because it seems that they are not in the same quadrant.

Will post the OA this evening when I get back

The question states that ab!=0 and (-a,b) and (-b,a) lie in same quadrant..that means both a and b have the same sign.
st xy>0 ..x and y have the same sign.. but no relations can be drawn to a and b so insuff..
st2.. ax>0 which implies x has the same sign as that of y.. insuff..

By combining 1 and 2 we can if a is ve than xis -ve and y is -ve and if a is +ve than both x and y are +ve..thus (-x,y) will always lie in the same quadrant as (-a,b) and (-b,a)...

Answer is C
