just solve a lot of questions. gmat questions. always try answering the questions first. do guess even if you think you don't know the material, this will help you develop "a feel" for the questions.
always read the OE even if you answered correctly. make sure you understand the OE. it is not necessarily be the way you solved the question. there are many ways to solve any gmat question. but do understand the explanation. if you don't study around... learn the relevant concepts, answer more similar questions, look on the internet for explanations, ask people... use this forum (!)... then continue to the next question...
don't bother to study general math concept just because it may appear on gmat. always use questions as a starting point to further study.
as i discussed elsewhere - general methods for combinatorics are sometimes useless for gmat - so you should be familiar with basic concepts, but don't bother to study combinatorics for gmat. same goes with other material.
