Can anyone try and show the workings?
A square countertop has a square tile inlay in the centre, leaving an untiled strip of uniform width around the tile. If the ratio of the tiled area to the untiled area is 25 to 39, which of the following could be the width, in inches, of the strip?
I. 1.5
II. 3
III. 4.5
a. I only
b. II only
c. I and II only
d. I and III onlu
e. I, II, and III

I dont know if my answer is correct or not but anyway, the side of the tiled inner square is 5 (as area is 25) so if we add 1.5 + 1.5 to 5 we get 8 as the side of the bigger square. So its area is 64 and 64-25=39 (the area surrounding the inner tiled square ) which is the one given in the question.
