A five-student committee must be formed to discuss and plan the development of the school’s sporting program. Knowing that each of these five students must be chosen from a group of 10 students, then the possible number of choices is:

(A) 360
(B) 180
(C) 21600
(D) 252
(E) 210

Solution:
This is a simple combinatorial problem. you have to find out the total number of ways a committee can be formed. The answer is 10C5 as we are choosing 5 people out of a total of 10 (without any order).
So 10C5 = 10!/(10-5)!*5! = 252

It wasn't clear to me whether they're asking for total # of committees or the total # of students. What made you go with the # of committees? Thankfully, 10*9*8*7*6 wasn't one of the choices.

This is a very standard combination question. After you solve a bunch of those questions, the answer becomes obvious.
