Is this even possible?

How can the hypotenuse be 14?

If the two sides are 8, wouldn't the hypotenuse be 8root of 2?

What is the source of this problem?

Although 14 isnt possibly the hypotenuse...its not involved in the calculation anyways...

I disagree. I can turn this around and say that 8 is irrelevant and the two sides are 14/sqrt2. Now what?

Yes, this is definitely a screwy problem premise! 8^2 + 8^2 definitely equals 8√2
