NOOOOO, my mistake it is actually <negative> - <100>
sometimes you gotta review capy 'n' paste too...huh!!

there is a minus before previous 100 (I mean the previous 100 is negative). i wonder why is not it getting printed, it might have to do something with HTML tags and these brackets, lets write it other way---

i.e.

If {x} = (x + 2) - (x + 1) - (x - 1) - (x - 2),
what is the value of {-100} - {100}

a. –196

b. –1

c. 0

d. 6

e. 202

then,

I agree with u,

I keep getting +400

Thats exactly I got. OA says---

The correct answer is E. Apply the defined operation to -100 and to 100 in turn, by substituting each value for x in the operation:

<100>; = -98 - 99 - (-101) - (-102) = -98 - 99 + 101 + 102 = 6

<100>; = 102 - 101 - 99 - 98 = -196

Then combine the two results:

<100>; - <100>; = 6 - (-196) = 6 + 196 = 202
------------------

I guess it's wrong and it must be +99 instead of -99. Please let me know if you do not agree.

I get 0.

{x} = (x + 2) - (x + 1) - (x - 1) - (x - 2) = x+2-x-1-x+1-x+2
= 4 - 2x

{-100} - {100} = (4+200) - (4-200) = 4+200-4+200 = 400

I think the OA is wrong too :)....No answer matches :)

o <x> = (x + 2) - (x + 1) - (x - 1) - (x - 2)
= 4 - 2*x
o <-x> = 4 - 2*(-x) = 4 + 2*x

So,
<-x> - <x> = (4 + 2*x) - (4 - 2*x)
= 4*x

Thus,
<-100> - <100> = 4*100 = 400

If = (x + 2) - (x + 1) - (x - 1) - (x - 2), what is the value of - ?

a. –196

b. –1

c. 0

d. 6

e. 202

im gettin 192...
x(100)= 102-101-99-98 = -96
so -=-(-96)-(-96)= 96 +96=192
