original speed = xkm/h
hypothetical speed = x+20 km/h
Time taken if travelling at xkm/h = 60/x
Time taken if travelling at x+20km/h = 60/(x+20)
THen 60/x - 60/(x+20) = 1/2
2(60x + 1200 - 60x) = x(x+20)
2400 = x^2 + 20x
x^2 + 20x - 2400 = 0
x = -10 +/- 50
x = 40
hypothetical speed = x+20 km/h
Time taken if travelling at xkm/h = 60/x

S=(v+20)(t-1/2)
S=vt <=> t=60/v
S=60
60=(v+20)(t-1/2) <=> 60=(v+20)(60/v-1/2)
then start plugging answer choices to the above equation to save time and always pick c fist and see fine the sides of equal sign. since answer choises are in asccending order u either then go up or down based on result from plugging C.
V=40
