Hi Guys,

I got this question on GMATPrep today. While solving the test, I thought this was a very simple question, maybe in the range of 400-500. But upon reviewing my answer, I realized to my disbelief that, I had chosen an incorrect choice and I still can't believe that the option I chose is not the right one. Here is the question:

Of the following, which is the greatest ?
1) (1/5)^-2
2) (1/3)^-2
3) 3^-2
4) 5^-2
5) 2^3

Hi Guys,

1) (1/5)^-2 = 5^2 = 25
2) (1/3)^-2 = 3^2 = 9
3) 3^-2 = 1/3^2 = 1/9
4) 5^-2 = 1/5^2 = 1/25
5) 2^3 = 8

2^3 = 8
5^-2 = 1/25
3^-2 = 1/9
(1/5)^-2 = 25
(1/3)^-2 = 9

damm :wink: two minutes too late:

the answer is (A)

You are right. OA is A.

I missed out on something really basic.

I assumed,
a^-b = bth root of a i.e. 5^-2 = sqr root of 5.

Damn, but better late than never.
