X^2 * x = (3x-1)x
x^3 = 3x^2 -x
x^3 = 3(3x-1) - x
x^3 = 9x - 3 - x => 8x -3

excuse me,

but how did you get from

x^3 = 3x^2 -x

to

x^3 = 3(3x-1) - x


?????

seems like an illegal operation here.

he substituted x^2 = 3x-1, since x^3 = x^2 * x
so its x^3 = 3 (3x-1) - x
