A school has 60 students, each of whom studies either Cantonese or French. How many of them study French?
(1) The number of students who study French is 4 times the number of the students that study Cantonese.
(2) The number of students who study Cantonese is 36 less than the number who study French.
A) Statement (1) BY ITSELF is sufficient to answer the question, but statement (2) by itself is not.
B) Statement (2) BY ITSELF is sufficient to answer the question, but statement (1) by itself is not.
C) Statements (1) and (2) TAKEN TOGETHER are sufficient to answer the question, even though NEITHER statement BY ITSELF is sufficient.
D) Either statement BY ITSELF is sufficient to answer the question.
E) Statements (1) and (2) TAKEN TOGETHER are NOT sufficient to answer the question, meaning that further information would be needed to answer the question.
SINCE WE DONT KNOW THE COMMON AREA, I THINK THE ANS IS E. is it ok?

pls give explanation. the students studying both are not mentioned...so how can we equate any of the given info to 60?
