on a certain site seeing tour, the ratio of the no: of women to the no: of children was 5:2. What was the no: of men on the site seeing tour??

stat 1> On the site seeing tour, the ratio of the no: of children to the no: of men was 5:11
stat 2> the no: of women on the site seeing tour was less than 30

need to know number of women or number of children to determine number of men
insuff

2) W<30
insuff, nothing about men

together
W:C:M= 12.5:5:11
W<30

W could be 25 or it hypothetically could be 12.5
which would give you 22 and 11 men, respectively
so insuff

2>Speaks about women in the site. But is not clear as to what it can be...

1) says C:M
5:11

so ratio now is

25:10:22

2) says no. of women is less than 30..

alone insuff..

together I know that no.of men is 22..

1) says C:M
5:11

so ratio now is

25:10:22

2) says no. of women is less than 30..

alone insuff..

together I know that no.of men is 22..

yeah..i guess you are right unless we can count the woman with no legs. We need integers. such a tricky test!

it is possible to find out the m/w ratio using m and w against children rations so 22/25

since there was less then 30 females the number has to be in increments so 25

Let women be = 5x
Men be = 11y
and
children be = 2x or 5y.(2x = 5y)
Therefore, 5x + 2x + 11y = T (total no. of people)
Substituting y for x we get,
25y/2 + 5y + 11y = T
57y/2 = T
Now from 2) women 60/25
Therefore y = 2
Therefore T = 57 and the respective nos. of women, men and children can be determined.
Ans is C.
