Statement 1:
(1) The probability of selecting a college graduate is twice the probability of selecting a person who is not a college graduate.
P( selecting a graduate ) = 2* P(~ selecting a graduate)
we know that : P( selecting a graduate ) + P(~ selecting a graduate) = 1
Substitute the relationship, in the above equation, we get
3* P(~ selecting a graduate) = 1
P(~ selecting a graduate) = (1/3)
P(selecting a graduate) = 1 - (1/3)
= (2/3)
Hence, Sufficient.
Statement 2:
(2) The probability of selecting a person who is not a college graduate is 0.33
P(~ selecting a graduate) = 0.33
P(selecting a graduate) = 1 - 0.33
= 0.67
Hence, Sufficient.
