If the value of p is one of the numbers 2 and 3, then is pq ≠ 6 ?

(1) If p equals 2, then q equals 3.
(2) If q equals 3, then p equals 2.

This is really a very fascinating problem.

ST1gives only one condition when P= 2, not tell about other condition when p=3 
Insufficient.

Similarly, statement 2 doesn't tell both conditions. 
Insufficient.

St1+St2 gives both conditions and for both values of P we are getting pq= 6; therefore, C is correct.

GMAT is really about how much you focus, which I lack too.

p could be 2 or 3.

Using both statements, if p is 2, q is 3. If q is 3, p is 2.

But what if p = 3? Then is q = 2? May be, may be not.

If q = 2 when p = 3, then pq = 6
If q = 100 when p = 3, then pq is not 6

Since p can be either 2 or 3, we don't what value q will take and hence we cannot say whether pq will be 6 or not.
