If x and y are integers, Is \(x = -1\)?

(1) \(x^y*y^x = 1\)

(2) \(x = y\)

Statement 1

(1) \(x^y*y^x = 1\)

Case 1
x = y = -1

-1 * -1 = 1

Case 2
x = y = 1

1 * 1 = 1

Statement 2

(2) \(x = y\)

Insufficient information.

Combination

Combined the statements do not help, as both the cases of statement 1 is possible.

(1) \(x^y*y^x = 1\)

(2) \(x = y\)

given x & y are integers
target is x = -1
#1
\(x^y*y^x = 1\)

possible when x=y=1 or -1
insufficient
#2
x=y
same as #1
insufficient
from 1 & 2
we cannot say x is -1 as it can be +1 also
