If Z is an integer, is 22 a factor of Z?

(1) 22 is a factor of 15Z.

(2) 22 is a factor of 16Z.

A) Statement (1) BY ITSELF is sufficient to answer the question, but statement (2) by itself is not.

B) Statement (2) BY ITSELF is sufficient to answer the question, but statement (1) by itself is not.

C) Statements (1) and (2) TAKEN TOGETHER are sufficient to answer the question, even though NEITHER statement BY ITSELF is sufficient.

D) Either statement BY ITSELF is sufficient to answer the question.

E) Statements (1) and (2) TAKEN TOGETHER are NOT sufficient to answer the question


Essentially is z/22? is z/11*2?

1: Yes b/c 15z --> 3*5*z/2*11 says its divisble by 22.

Can you explain this further?

2: We dont know b/c 16 has several 2's in it.

(1) 22 is a factor of 15Z. THUS ---> 15Z/22 = a whole number.

3, 5, 2, 11 is co-prime, so z must be divisible by 2*11 in order to get 15z/22 an integer. Clear? If not clear, let me know! :lol:
