In six successive games, a baseball team scored 3 runs once, 6 runs twice, and 9 runs three times. What was the average (arithmetic mean) number of runs the team scored per game over the six-game period?

A. 8
B. 7
C. 6
D. 5
E. 4

team scored 3 runs once, 6 runs twice, and 9 runs three times

—> Total runs scored = 3*1 + 6*2 + 9*3 = 42

Average = 42/6 = 7 runs per game

IMO Option B

Pls Hit kudos if you like the solution

The average number of runs is:

(3 x 1 + 6 x 2 + 9 x 3)/6 = (3 + 12 + 27)/6 = 42/6 = 7
