\(|x-2|<1\) becomes \((x-2)<1\) which yields \(x<3\) or becomes \(-(x-2)<1\) which yields \(x>1\). Together, this becomes \(1<x<3\) The other way you can quickly translate it is that the nominal value is centred by the value of 2 and goes up and down by 1.

Either way, D is true. All the other answers can provide values that are not within the range of the original equation. Is it possible that the question is worded incorrectly; i.e. which of the following must be true?
