3/2 miles = 1+1/2 miles
1+1/2 miles have 6 1/4 miles
1st 1/4 mile will cost= x
Remaining 5 1/4 miles will cost= 5/4 x
Total cost = x + 5/4 x= 9/4 x
Please advise if I am missing something here

Is there a typo error somewhere in the answer choice? Coz the answer to this question should be 9x/4 but this answer choice is missing.
Solution:
Cost of 1st quarter mile = x
Remaining distance = (3/2 - 1/4) miles = 5/4 miles = 5 quarter miles
Cost of remaining 5 quarter miles = 5 (1/4 x) = 5x/4
Total cost = x + 5x/4 = 9x/4 !!! Hope that explains it.
