I encountered this problem in one of the Princeton review tests. I got this one wrong, and the answer explanation asks us to backsolve the problem. I am personally not in favor of backsolving, as it tends to take a lot of time. If any of you could think if an easy way to solve this problem, please feel free to share it.

While backsolving or substituting values is easy, I was wondering if there is any other easy method to solve this question. Sometimes, you may end up picking some really bad numbers, due to time and exam pressure, and you may end up losing more time trying to solve the question. However, if there is a straightforward method to solve this problem, then it will definitely help.
