3 shipments:
1st - 100 donuts, 17% jelly = 17 jelly
2nd - 100 donuts, 40% jelly = 40 jelly
3rd - 100 donuts, x% jelly = x jelly

300 donuts, 30% jelly, 57+x jelly

90 jelly donuts = 57+x
33 = x
3rd = 100 donuts, 33% jelly

A certain bakery made 3 shipments of 100 doughnuts each. If 17 percent of the first shipment and 40 percent of the second shipment of jelly doughnuts and 30 percent of all three shipments combined consisted of jelly doughnuts, then what percent of the third shipment consisted of jelly doughnuts?

A. 21%
B. 27%
C. 30%
D. 33%
E. 41%

We can create the equation:

0.17(100) + 0.4(100) + n/100 * (100) = 0.3(300)

17 + 40 + n = 90

n = 33

Answer: D

I used equation:

17 + 40 + X = 90

Then solve for x. X= 33
