help needed on this one plz explain thankssss

equal amount of water are pourred into 2 empty jars of differents quantities which made one jar 1/4 FULL and the other jar 1/3 FULL

If the water in the jar with the lesser capacity is then pourred into the jar with the greater capacity ,what fraction of the larger jar will be filled with water

since it is equal amounts of water if you pour the lesser capacity into the bigger capacity it will make it half full. You have 1/4 and add 1/4

Answer is C

Picking numbers.....Let 2 gallons be the number poured

The bigger jar has a capacity of 8 gallons ==> After 2 gallons are poured in....its 2/8 ==> 1/4 full

The smaller jar has a capacify of 6 gallaons ==> After 2 gallons are poured in....its 1/3 full

2 gallons in the smaller jar is then poured in to the bigger jar. ==> (2+2)/8 ==> 1/2

it should be 1/4 +1/4 = 1/2
so C is the answer.

Simply 1/2. Note that both the jars have same quantity of water in them. If x amount of water fills the larger jar to 1/4 then 2x amount of water will fill it 1/2.

A delusionary trick question. The volumes are the same, so 1/4+1/4=1/2

:-D :wink: I think it is very simple though a little tricky
equal amount of water are pourred into 2 empty jars

it doesn't matter what fraction of smaller jar etc
Just stop and think a little one jar is filled on 1/4 and when you fill it with the same quantity of water it ll be just 1/2 Hence the answer should be C
