'x' prospective people interview for some jobs, in the first round of interviews 1/2 of these people are denied, in the second round 15 additional people are denied a position. In the end, 1/8 of the original people were not denied a position. How many people were offered a position?

: there are only 2 rounds; 2) those who "were not denied" a position are the same who were offered a position 
x-1/2x-15=1/8x
x=40
so (1/8)*40=5

only 1/8 of the people remained after the third round.
1/2-1/8 =3/8 of the people got eliminated in the second round
Total number of people 15/(3/8)= 40
No. of people got jobs 1/8* (40)=5
