Find the value of x = (-5^2 - 5) + (2*3*(-5))

a) -10
b) 60
c) 50
d) -60
e) 10

This question is made up. It is very similar to a problem I saw on the official GMAT, with the main kicker being the -5^2 ... I don't have the OA and I was stumped by this question on the test

x = (-5^2-5) +(2*3(-5))
= (-25-5) +(-30)
= -30-30
= -60
Answer D

Trap (-5)^2 = (-5)*(-5) = 25, but -5^2 = -(5*5)= -25

Find the value of \(x = (-5^2 - 5) + (2*3*(-5)\)

a) -10
b) 60
c) 50
d) -60
e) 10

\(x = (-5^2 - 5) + (2*3*(-5))\)

Or, \(x = (a^2 + a) + (2*3*(a))\) If u take a = -5 Here it is -(a)^2+a + 2*3*a

Or, \(x = (a^2 + a+ 6a)\)

Or, \(x = (a^2 +7a)\)

Or, \(x = a(a + 7)\)

Or, \(x = -5(-5 + 7)\)

Or, \(x = -10\), Answer must be (A)
