1. First draw the problem after converting the 6km into 6000 m

2. Convert 45 kmph into m/min -> 45*1000 / 60 = 750 m / min

3. The bus travels 750 m in a min. therefore it travels 250 m in 1/3 min.

4. It travels 24 * 250 m in 1/3*24 = 8 mins.

5. We know that the bus takes 23* 1min breaks .

So, the time the bus takes is 8 + 23 mins = 31 mins.

Let's solve this question in 2 parts

Part 1 Travel time

The Bus travels at 45km/h that converted into km/m is 0.75

So, applying T = d/s i.e. 6/0.75 that gives us travel time of 8 mins

Part 2 Stoppage time

For 6 km the bus would stop 24 time, but we have to exclude the last stop as the bus would have reached the final stop since it marks the end of the 6 km journey.

so, the bus would stop 23 time each stop being 1min that makes our stoppage time 23 min

now combining part 1 & 2

8mins travelling time + 23 mins Stoppage time = 31mins

After doing the calculations wrong twice I have finally done it in a way that I could comprehend better.

A bus travels at a speed of 45 kmph. But it stops every 250 meters at a bus-stop for 1 minute. In how many minutes does the bus cover a distance of 6 kms.

If we see that in the entire journey the Bus will make 6 x 4 -1 stops (Every km we can divide it into 4 segments of 250 meters) hence 23 mins of total stoppage time since the final stop the bus will be arriving the destination hence we can remove that count.

Now if the bus wouldn't have stopped then the journey of 6 km would have been completed in 8 mins exactly.
=> 45km/h = 0.75 km/min.

So 6 Kms at a speed of 0.75 km/min = 6/(0.75) = 8 minutes.

Total the bus will take = 23 + 8 minutes. = 31 Minutes.
Answer is C.

45 kph = 45 × [ 5 / 18 ] = 12.5 m / s
After going 250 m ..... Stops for 1 min.......go another 250 m ..... Stop for 1 min..... So AFTER every 250 m ..... Stop for 1 min......look carefully.....AFTER ..... every 250 m.......
So....to go 6000 m .......bus stops for 1 min........ 6000 / 250 = 24 times ..... BUUT..... We don't need da 24th time ....cuz after going 5750 m .....we stop 1 min for da 23rd time...... then we go another 250 and reach 6000 ..... So we dont include da 1 min stop after 6000 m .....
So..... total 1 min stop ..... 23 times ..... So.... Total stopping time = 23 min .....
And...... Going 6000 m takes ..... 6000 / 12.5 = 480 s = 8 min .....
So....total time ..... 23 + 8 = 31 min ......

- For every 250m (i.e., 1/4 km), the bus takes a time of ((1/4) / 45) * 60 = 1/3 minutes.
- So, for 6 km i.e., 24 x 250m, the bus takes 24 * 1/3 = 8 minutes.
- Now, we have to factor in the stop time. Between the starting point and the finish point, the bus stops 23 times. The 24th stop is the final stop, hence this should not be included.
- So, time spent in stoppage = 23 x 1 min = 23 minutes.
- Total time taken to cover the 6 km distance = 8 + 23 = 31 minutes.
