In a factory X out of every Y items produced were found to be defective. If 5% of the items produced during a day were found to be defective, what was the total number of items produced that day?
(A) x/.05
(B) 95x
(C) 20x/y
(D) 20y
(E) None of these

Posted from my mobile device

Out of y items produced, defective = x
Percent of defectives = (x/y)*100

=> 100x/y = 5
=> Number of items produced = y = 100x/5 = 20x = x/0.05

Answer A

guys, lets make it simple
solve it by assumotion

x of y = 5/100
basically 1 of 10 is defective

y= 5/100 * x
y=1/20x
y= 0.05/x

hence e is the answer.

option a is just the reciprocal of the answer.
