are we saying there is a bug in the software for this problem, because it appears to be a directly screenshot from gmatprep.

I think the question is asking for 2^(x+y)^2/2^(x-y)^2 = 2^(4xy) = 2^4 = 16

This question was posted in the past on this forum, and that's how remember that the question is asking for exponent. It's pretty obvious that the question doesn't make sense as it is (like 2 in both numerator and denominator), but again it's interesting to see how the format could be messed during a screen capture!

The correct question is 2 ^ ((X+Y)^2) / 2 ^ ((X-Y)^2)
