In a college math class that is 60% women, only 30% of the students fail. If 50% of the men pass, what percent of the women fail?

Lets say, Total students = 100
Men = 40, Women = 60 (since we are told 60% are women)

Total Students who fail = 30 (since we are told 30% of students fail)
We are told 50% of men pass. This implies other 50% of men fail.
Hence 50% * 40 = 20 Men Fail

Now out of 30 students who fail, 20 are men. This implies remaining 10 students who fail should be women.

Question is what % of women fail.  Hence % of women who fail = (10)*100/60 = 16.67% 
Is that the correct OA?

Yes, that's correct OA. While I typed the question, I realized it's asking what percent of the WOMEN fail, not the whole fail. Another day!

question is asking about no of  \frac{women fail}{no . of women} .

Let no of students = 100
Women = 60
Men = 40
total fail = 30
total pass = 70
men pass = 20
men fail = 20
women fail = total fail - men fail = 30 - 20 = 10
therefore, answer = 10/60 = 16.67%
